Once your application has been received, you will be invited to attend an informal interview which is simply an opportunity for us to get to know you and for you to ask us any questions you have about the course. You will usually be advised at the end of the interview whether you have been successful in gaining a place on the course.
Following your interview, the Course Tutor will assist you with the completion of an Enrolment Form which confirms your acceptance of a place on the chosen course. All that remains is for you to call into Bridgend or Pencoed campus reception with the enrolment form signed by yourself and the tutor and (where applicable) pay for the course.
Course Fees
Part-time course fees for the academic year 2011/12 vary across subjects. The fee for the course(s) you are interested in can be found by clicking on the course title in Course Vacancies in the bvillage.
If you are under the age of 19 years on the 1st August 2011 and have finished your compulsory school education you will not be charged course fees for part-time Further Education courses. This applies to home and EU students.
You may also be exempt from course fees if you are:
- In receipt of JSA / Income Support
- Dependent upon a person in receipt of JSA / Income Support
- In receipt of incapacity benefit / Employment and Support Allowance
- Dependent upon a person in receipt of incapacity benefit/ Employment Support Allowance
- In receipt of Pensions Credit (Guarantee Credit only)
- Dependent upon a person in receipt of Pensions Credit (Guarantee Credit only)
PLEASE NOTE: Not all of our courses are eligible for exemption from fees. Please see individual course information.
All students exempt from course fees will be charged an administration fee of £10.00 per course at enrolment (with the exception of Essential Skills and ESOL courses).
Please remember to bring proof of receipt of benefits with you in order to claim exemption from course fees.
Payment of Course Fees
Payment of course fees may be made by cash, Cheque (with guarantee card), Debit card, Access or Visa.
Instalment payments are available for fees of £300 or more.
Individuals are required to pay 50% of the course fee at the time of enrolment, followed by a further two payments during the academic year. For further information, please contact Bridgend College Student Registry, Tel: 01656 302261.

If your workplace is paying your course fees, please ensure that your employer has completed the College's Letter of Authority Form authorising his/her sponsorship. Please bring this form with you when you enrol. This form can be obtained from either our Bridgend Campus, Tel: 01656 302261 or Pencoed Campus, Tel: 01656 302600.

Assembly Learning Grants (ALGs)
Full-time and Part-time Further Education students who are 19 years old and over on the 31st August 2011, can apply for an Assembly Learning Grant. To be eligible for an award, you will need to undertake at least 275 contact hours during the 2011/2012 academic year. (If you are unsure of your contact hours, please ask your Course Tutor).
ALG forms are available from the Student Services Teams at our Bridgend and Pencoed Campuses. Your ALG will be administrated by the Student Loans Company. Processing of application forms can take up to six weeks, so it is advisable to apply as soon as possible.
Higher Education Grant
Financial assistance is available in the form of a Part-time Higher Education Grant and a Higher Education Assembly Learning Grant. Some courses are also eligible for exemption of fees, dependent upon student's circumstances.
Student Access Fund
The Bridgend College Student Access Fund may be able to help students in difficult circumstances who might otherwise be prevented from undertaking their course. Part-time Further Education students studying at any of the College campuses may apply for assistance towards childcare fees, books and equipment.
Application forms are available from Student Services, and the completed forms must be returned to Student Services by the 23rd September 2011.
